DataXpress

In the period I worked for ActiSoft in Rotterdam we developed a system for office automation of Law-Practice.  Detailed information on this subject you will find in the link http://www.dataxpress.nl

Because I realize the english speakers won't understand much of this dutch website a summary is given below.

DataXpress stands for office automation in a simple manner.  It's also about integration of data but also about easy to use.  In the upper left corner of the site you see sometimes the word DossXpess.  Doss is a part of the dutch word Dossier which is File in English.  DataXpress is based on the files lawyers make.  In the product highlights of DataXpress the main properties of the system are mentioned.  These are the way its split up in modules and the way these can be chosen to make the user see only the things he needs.  DataXpress communicates with Excel and Word for extra output.  Interfaces in all modules are built in the same easy manner and all use and display involved data from the other modules.  There is also a possibility to extend the number of data in a file by the user himself.  The database isn't delivered empty but with a basic set of data for the company.  These data can be extended by the user. Also all reports can be made and changed by the user.

The part "Systeemeisen" - hardware demand - tells about the hardware needed.   Generally a Pentium 400 system can handle DataXpress.  The same is for the database server.  Almost any Pentium system will be able to handle it.  The system needs Windows 95 or more recent and with 64 Mb internal or more.  Software needs 10 Mb and for data you may need at least 20-40 Gb depending on the number of data and documents.  Prices of DataXpress are connected to the number of modules a named user uses.  The price you pay is for using the system.  It can't be bought.  Connected to these payments are fast help with problems and regular updates.

The following modules are part of DataXpress:

Relationmanagement:  For keeping up to date of all kind of personal and
business relations with many possible details
Files:  Business files including concerned relations in the files, documents, agenda
           and invoicing
Documents:  All documents to be sent to relations in the files are made and stored
here, connected to the files and the relations.  Making documents can
be done using templates which use data in the files and relations database
Agenda:  Contains all agenda data of events concerning files and relations
Invoicing:  Able to handle all known types of invoicing in (law) business

DataXpress is designed for law firms and notaries.  However, the possibilities of it go further than that.  The way data are handled makes that it can be used by many other types of companies.   The only thing  to do is using a bit different data.  Especially the possibilities in invoicing, in which also pricing tables can be used gives the wider use.
All modules in DataXpress use templates.  So there are templates to make files, relations data, invoices etc.  In this way DataXpress tries to minimise the work of repeating activities.  These templates also give you the possibility to make divisions which are added to the data the template stands for.   Another asset is the module statistics which opens the way to new understandings of data.

The way this design of me has grown, makes me proud of this "child" of mine.
